Since last time..

So the nightshift I wrote about turned out to be a quiet one. Had one more surgery in the morning after, and then it ws home. It was wierd, I had slept on and off the entire night, so when I got home, I slept away most of the day too... Wich was good as I was going back to the hospital that same night for another go at nights... This shift also turned out slow, but instead of sleeping on the couch as I did the last time, I decided to give a stretcher a go! Wasn't exactly comfortable, but hey, did the trick... What DIDN'T do the trick was sleeping without a mosquitonet and having an insect-repellant that only lasted for 2-3 hours before having to be re-applied. Well guess what, you don't wake up thinking you have to reapply it, you just wake up and see that the mosquitos have had a field day on your legs arms and back... GREAT! Still no malaria tho! :D

On thursday I went back to main theatre and got to assist on an ortho-surgery. 4 screws into the hip for some unfortunate guy who had decided to measure strength with a bus. He lost.

Now comes the weekend, and what a weekend! Went to Malindi - about 2 hours north of Mombasa - on friday with Dr. Faiqa and her sister. Nice place, just walked around and visited some of their family and then at night we went with the guy we were staying with to the beach. Went swimming in the moonlight, soooo nice! After that we went to eat at one of the many many italian restaurants there. It's like little Italy, really... Went back to the place we lived at about 10ish, slept and I got woken up at 1, then we were going out. It was seriously the LAST thing on my mind. I was soooo tired, not keen on going out at all, but they dragged me along anyway.. So I decided I had to give it a go, so ordered some energy-boosting drinks rigth away, and all of a sudden, things were SWEET! :D We were at Stardust (one of the clubs) 'till it closed at 430, then went to the pier to watch the sunrise... What a night!

After some well deserved hours in dreamland, we went to marina park to go snorkeling! Bought a loaf of bread and started throwing it in the water and just like that it was crawling (or swimming) with fish! So jumped in like a proper diver (back first, hurt like ****) and swam around for about an hour. Got some really nice photos too! Swam under our boat and took pictures through the bottom of the boat. I decided to do the same to another bout that was next to us, when I came up on the pother side, they threw bread to me! Like I was the rare big white cod or whatever... Met those guys after, they just called me "hey, there is the big fish!" :D All PR is good PR ;)

Now, you'll never actually SEE those photos, because the camera is now stolen... Goodie! Just before the safari too.. Oh well, just another reason to come back =)
